Bar Lunch 10/1/10: CLE Electronic Discovery

There will be a CLE on October 1, 2010 — Electronic Discovery in Dissolution — by Will Payne.
$9 for lunch to NOPSC; $20 for CLE to Pro Bono

Please RSVP by Thursday noon, but if you forget or your schedule changes, please come anyway even if no RSVP b/c there is usually a little more food and if not, you can still get the CLE.

Remaining CLEs for this year are as follows:

* Oct 22 — From Family Law to Estate Planning – Important Insurance Tips for Every Lawyer — Nelson Boyd

* Nov 5 — Clallam Legal — Not approved yet.

* Nov 19 — Ethics — Hugh Haffner — NOT approved yet.

* Dec 3 — open and Skills Center unavailable.

* Dec 17 — Probably or maybe the end of year Christmas Party or a CLE at lunch if someone is interested, and the party might that evening.

Family Law Bar meeting 10/7

There will be a meeting of the Family Law Bar Association on Thursday, October 7 at noon, brown bag in courtroom 3. Commissioner Basden will be meeting with us to discuss a number of issues concerning his Friday docket.

Voteforjudges.org

The “Voting for Judges” website (http://www.votingforjudges.org) is a valuable nonpartisan source of judicial-evaluation information for candidates running for judicial office. Now in its fifth year, the site includes information about candidates for all levels of courts throughout the state.

The WSBA is a co-sponsor of this site.

Job announcement: Courthouse Facilitator

September 23, 2010

Clallam County Superior Court, in conjunction with the Northwest Justice Project and Clallam-Jefferson County Pro Bono Lawyers, is seeking a new courthouse facilitator. This is a part-time position. The Clallam County Courthouse Facilitator also provides help with filling out forms for court and family court in particular, but does not provide any legal advice. A J.D. is not required.

This Friday the Bar Lunch will be at the Skills Center without a CLE. Original CLE planned with Stormy Howell has been cancelled and rescheduled.  Other ideas for the CLE are in the works but nothing confirmed at this time.

Parenting Class – Incredible Years – Sequim

This is a 12-session parenting series (Tuesdays/Thursdays) talking about raising children & helping them be successful. (September 21-November 4
with a week off in October)

Bring your questions, because you won’t want to miss this if you have
children ages 3-6.

Free child care with activities for the children, Free books for the children
(each session),  Topics include: Behavior issues, communication, discipline & setting limits, what to expect at certain ages, and family management techniques.

This class is funded through a grant from Division of Behavioral Health
and Recovery and Clallam County Community Network.
