Legacy Planning Seminar

September 14, 2011

Please join me for the Legacy Planning Seminar co-sponsored by the Jefferson Community Foundation and Clallam Community Foundation this coming Friday, September 16th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For Bar members, especially ones with estate planning practices, this is a great opportunity to learn more about planned gifts by one of the foremost authorities in our State, Bill Zook. This will be an opportunity to learn about charitable remainder trusts, gift annuities and other planned gifts. The WSBA has approved the seminar for two CLE credits, and the cost of the seminar and lunch is only $25.00. The seminar will also be held at the Northwest Maritime Center in Port Townsend which is a really spectacular venue for a seminar.

The Clallam Community Foundation has also co-sponsored this event and is eager for as many Port Angeles and Sequim lawyers to attend as possible. The Clallam Community Foundation (which is a part of United Way) is a great way of reinvesting in our community, and attendees will have an opportunity to learn more about the Community Foundation and other non-profit
organizations in Clallam County.

I really urge as many estate planning attorneys to attend as possible. It should be a fun time to get together and I look forward to seeing as many people there as possible.

Clallam County Bar Association Members:

August 26, 2011

This is an invitation from the Jefferson Community Foundation to attend a 2-hour CLE followed by a light lunch. The Legacy Planning Seminar is in the process of being approved for 2 CLE credits through the Bar Association. The $25.00 cost includes both the CLE credits and the lunch provided at the seminar. The seminar will be held at the Maritime Center in Port Townsend. Bill Zook is a very well respected lawyer specializing in planned giving. This will be a great opportunity to get inexpensive CLE credits and to learn more about the Jefferson Community Foundation and the Clallam Community Foundation. It will also be an opportunity for people to see firsthand the Maritime Center in Port Townsend. This is a really great venue for a CLE. Please encourage everybody to come to the seminar and then enjoy the rest of the afternoon on September 16th in Port Townsend. I look forward to seeing everybody there.

CCBA Summer Schedule

June 17, 2011

Dear CCBA Members:

As you may already know, we will suspend our usual meeting days on the first and third Friday of each month during July and August. This decision was based on feedback from many of you during recent meetings, as well as the historically low attendance numbers during those months You’ll also recall that past president Will Payne started this tradition last year and it seemed to work well.

Following the CLE tomorrow (which you can still RSVP for), our next regular meeting is scheduled for September 16th (Judge Williams will present a CLE on drug court). In the interim, and back by popular demand, there will be a golf tournament and barbecue in August. The final date is not yet determined. Invitations will be sent via email sometime next month.

Have a great summer.

Chris Koenig
2011 CCBA President
