Clallam County Bar Association Members:

August 26, 2011

This is an invitation from the Jefferson Community Foundation to attend a 2-hour CLE followed by a light lunch. The Legacy Planning Seminar is in the process of being approved for 2 CLE credits through the Bar Association. The $25.00 cost includes both the CLE credits and the lunch provided at the seminar. The seminar will be held at the Maritime Center in Port Townsend. Bill Zook is a very well respected lawyer specializing in planned giving. This will be a great opportunity to get inexpensive CLE credits and to learn more about the Jefferson Community Foundation and the Clallam Community Foundation. It will also be an opportunity for people to see firsthand the Maritime Center in Port Townsend. This is a really great venue for a CLE. Please encourage everybody to come to the seminar and then enjoy the rest of the afternoon on September 16th in Port Townsend. I look forward to seeing everybody there.

WSBA ADR section web site update

April 16, 2010

The ADR section of the WSBA has implemented a new web site at www.wa-adr.ning.com. It is based on Web 2.0 standards and is oriented around a social networking and marketing orientation, which allows section members tools to collaborate and market their practices on a searchable site. Parts of the site are only accessible by members, and other parts are viewable by the public, which includes the ability to search for section members / mediators by geography skill and interests.

The ADR section provides services to people practicing ADR, and also for users of ADR services.

Angeles Mediation offers family law mediation services

January 3, 2010

Angeles Mediation helps people resolve their cases without having to go to court. Their mediators are experienced lawyers who can keep costs down. Angeles Mediation handles family law cases like parenting plans, child support, divorce, dividing up property, and relocation (when one person wants to move away). Domestic violence cases can also be addressed in mediation. For mediation to work, everyone has to want to participate.

Mediation is a process where the mediator helps guide the parties to reach an agreement in their case. Lawyer don’t have to be involved but they can be as much or as little as anyone wants. Mediation allows people to make their own choice about how things get decided, rather than taking their personal problems to court for a judge to tell people how they are going to live. You can also keep your personal information out the the public court file.

Mediation can be started at the very beginning, before anything is filed in court. It can also start shortly after someone files in court or after the court process has been going on for a while.

Because an experienced lawyer is involved, Angeles Mediation makes sure everyone is treated fair. If you need papers for court, they can help get them written up.

Angeles Mediation is based in Port Angeles, and serves Sequim, Forks, Port Townsend, Silverdale, Bremerton, and Clallam, Jefferson and Kitsap counties. Mediation can be done in person or remotely by video and/or phone.

You can find more information at Angeles Mediation’s website or by calling 360-452-8689.
