June 22, 2017

The Law Office of Mark Baumann is hosting a domestic violence legal clinic, starting tomorrow, June 23, 2017 through December 31, 2017. They are attempting to reach out to domestic violence victims and help them to achieve safety and stability through guiding them with free counsel and legal paperwork drafting for domestic violence protection orders. They encourage eligible clients to contact  them, at 360.504.0409,  between the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 12:00 P.M. on Mondays or 2:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M on Friday.

In addition, this clinic will be used as a way to collect research for BELARI. The goal of BELARI is to help improve the legal system by researching and applying interdisciplinary concepts to legal counseling and representation. BELARI occasionally conducts research projects, sometimes in conjunction with pro bono clinics. For more information regarding BELARI visit http://markbaumann.com/belari/.

CCBA

February 1, 2017

Last week the Board of Trustees voted on the issue of whether or not to join the following statement proposed by the Port Angeles Racial Justice Collective: “We
seek to hold a safe space for our community members and will not tolerate violence or discrimination in Port Angeles and the North Olympic Peninsula. We offer our support to immigrants, indigenous peoples, people of color, Muslim and Jewish people, LGBTQ people, women and femmes, survivors, people with disabilities, and all those who have been marginalized and may be targeted because of who they are.”

The results of the poll showed that the majority of the CCBA members were in favor of joining the statement. The Board of Trustees discussed the poll, reviewed the comments provided by our members and ultimately chose to vote in favor of joining the statement. Thank you to all those who participated in the poll and provided comments on the issue.
