CCBA Social Luncheon
The Clallam County Bar Association is hosting a social luncheon at the North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center next Friday, November 16, at noon. I circulated an invitation through Punchbowl. If you received that invitation, please RSVP through Punchbowl. If you did not receive that invitation, and you plan to attend, you may RSVP by replying to this message.
Lunch is $9.50, payable to “Skills Center.”
This will be our last social luncheon, and we have a few business matters to discuss. It will be nice to have a strong attendance for this meeting.
Additionally, if you have not yet registered for Clallam Legal, please do so. You may fax your registration to Carol Mortensen at 360/452-1164, or you may phone Carol at 360/452-1112 or Cliff Tassie at 360/457-1139 to register.
This is a great event and a great opportunity to earn CLE credits, including an ethics credit, and the proceeds benefit the Clallam-Jefferson Pro Bono Lawyers Association. Clallam Legal is a critical fund raiser for Pro Bono and your registration fee will go a long way toward maintaining crucial civil legal services to low-income persons in Clallam and Jefferson Counties.
Putting Kids First Parenting Class
Putting Kids First has been presenting the Parenting and Co-Parenting
classes for almost twenty years in English. We are proud to now offer the
Spanish version to those who need a translated version of the most helpful
parenting class online.
Finding and attending a parenting class can often be difficult and we
found an increasing demand for Spanish speaking parents who could not find
classes in Spanish in their area. Having it online in Spanish is just
another way Putting Kids First is trying to help families.
Putting Kids First is dedicated to helping attorneys and courts to receive
a copy of a participants certificate of completion with the email and fax
request filled out by clients, when they complete the class. Two
originals are still mailed out through The United States Postal Service.
The immediate emailing or faxing of certificates can be beneficial for
those, that need a certificate for a fast approaching court date.

Are you an adoptive family, someone considering adoption, or wish to support those who have adopted children?
If so, on November 15, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., Clallam County Superior Court will open its doors to finalize adoptions in Clallam County as part of National Adoption Day. This one day celebrates the joys of adoption and encourages more people to create or grow families through adoption. We’re joining a nationwide effort to call attention to the more than 100,000 children waiting in the United States foster care system.
Following the adoptions at 10:30 a.m. there will be a short program where a few guest speakers who will share their personal experiences with foster care and adoption. Following their remarks, there will be a reception with light refreshments served.
Every year more than 4,000 adoptions are finalized as part of National Adoption Day, and communities host events to celebrate families formed through adoption. It is also a day to draw attention to the nearly 30,000 children who turn 18 without having forever families.
There also will be activities to celebrate families who adopt and provide information to prospective parents about the adoption process. From November 12 – 16, there will be a public display at the Clallam County Courthouse which will provide information regarding foster care and adoption in the State of Washington.
Please include the following notice in your community calendar listing. If you have any questions about National Adoption Day and our local celebration, please contact me at number above.
